Thomas Blackshear

Thomas Blackshear’s “Born Again.” A ram’s skull hangs off a wall as a bright light from a window causes the skull to cast a shadow on the wall. The light is reflected on one side of the skull, while the other side is in shadow or, darkness! On the shadow side a group of moths are flying are flying up and through the eye socket of the ram's soul, and they come out of the other eye socket that is bathed in the light side of the wall. As the moths come into the light, they are transformed into butterflies1, they have become a new creation in the Light! This painting represents what happens to us when we accept the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross when he died and rose again to eternal life! By accepting him into our hearts, we die to ourselves and become born again in his Spirit! Because we believe in Him and what he has done for us, we become new creations, "Old things have passed away and behold all things have become new!" We have become.
